The 1st Brigade of the 101st arrived in Vietnam on July 29, 1965, and fought in the II Corps Tactical Zone. In 1966 the brigade fought in Phu Yen and Kontum provinces. During the Vietnam War, the 101st Airborne Division fought in several major campaigns and battles, including the Battle of Hamburger Hill in May 1969. In mid-1968, it was reorganized and redesignated as an airmobile division and then in 1974 as an air assault division. All 101st Vietnam Veterans are eligible to join us, that includes paratroopers and those tough "legs" that served so bravely along side us.
